Some theatre each day keeps the doctor away…

Saw Totem with Cirque du Soleil tonight.  Quite good – clowns weren’t up to snuff, though.

Complimentary champagne and popcorn beforehand (what a weird yet wonderful combination), complimentary gourmet Magnum icecreams in the interval, and complimentary little pastry cup things and hot dogs on half buns afterwards, along with plenty of alcohol.  Plus a dance interlude 25 minutes into the afterparty, which involved four dancers – that they cleared a space for in the crowd – doing their thing.  It was a perfect example, I think, of why context can be extremely important in art, because these dancers had no context, and as such there was no meaning to what they were doing, and I had no idea what to feel.  Or at least that’s how it seemed to me.  Not really the fault of the dancers, though.
