Interactive Empathy

I’ve decided on a new suit.  It is three piece.

And how interesting it is, playing this Fire Emblem, to be feeling so much for the characters after spending so little time with them.  Part of me thinks it’s just that I don’t want them to die – me being the perfectionist and all (and the game working by having the characters permanently die if they fall in battle) – but perhaps there’s something more to it.  Strangely, one doesn’t feel anywhere near as strongly towards, say, a theatrical character.  Perhaps because one knows that nothing can be done.  There is no choice in the matter.  (Which might lead one to think that Choose Your Own Adventure characters are those that involve the reader the most, and garner the most empathy.  But as anyone who has read one of those books would know, that’s not the case.)  Hmm.  Hmm.
