Some theatre each day keeps the doctor away…

Birthday Books

So I bought some books, on behalf of my parents, for my birthday this year.  (‘Tis a long story, especially considering that my birthday was in June, but that’s for another time, I think.  It’s nothing particularly dramatic, though.)  And here they are:

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Shakespeare’s Metrical Art by George T. Wright
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
Bleeding Edge by Thomas Pynchon

I stumbled upon the Pynchon two days ago – just before I bought these books (there’s been a bit of a lag in the purchase of them and me mentioning it) – and discovered it had been released mid-September.  So that’s exciting.  Plenty of other books of his that I want to read, obviously (that is, all of them), but it’s nice to read something at the same time the rest of the world first reads it.
